Soon after returning from our trip, we slowly began to settle into our new found freedom and directed our energies to contributing to “society” in the most sincerest way and of course with our own personal touch. I was quite determined to leave my current position at a college university and seek a much higher post. It was quite a challenge, but I persevered. It was time to take the plunge in recalibrating my dated resume and fine tuned my cover letters to direct my energies to seek a new position. At first, it was a bit of a set back as I pinned my tag in my resume as a newly minted “college graduate”. Most recruiters were quite happy for me and congratulated me, unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough to get the position. I meandered my way in applying for just any job within the University system. But as I started the process, it helped me gain a much better perspective and hone in my goal of seeking a new position. From June to until the end of the year, I was shooting from the hip. It just didn’t seem to work.

But during that time, I took time to fall back into some habits along with some shameless idle entertainment, i.e. reality TV shows, overeating, loaning people money with trust, less exercise, less writing, less reading…… unbeknownst that it was clearly not productive and content on my end. On a bright side, I returned to spending more time with my partner and getting back into more of his life rather than my own selfish schooling. But he knows my goal and supported me every step of the way along with other supportive family and friends.
More travel ensued by going to our yearly summer vacation to Kauai, Hawaii, and taking a first time Caribbean cruise celebrating Christmas and New Year’s. Ring in 2014, it was a cloud clearing for my constant pursuit of seeking a new position and identity.
